Ruth McCartney MBE is a graduate of Queen's University
Belfast. Before coming to Methodist College she was Head of Music at Markethill
High School from 1988 1994. She is best known for her work with the Girls
Choir in Methody. Ruth has both sung in and conducted many choirs over the
years. In the early nineties she was one of two sopranos in the six part
choral group Kaleidoscope who broadcast regularly on television and radio.
She is a music critic for the Irish News and an examiner and moderator with
CCEA. In the 2003 New Year's honours list she was awarded an MBE for her
services to education. In June 2005 she was presented with an ARSCM at a
ceremony in York Minster by The Royal School of Church Music.
